CSS Policy Survey 2024

What is happening now

Join the ranks of global leaders in school safety by participating the Comprehensive School Safety (CSS) Policy Survey 2024

The survey highlights your country’s unwavering commitment to child rights in education, and equips you with invaluable, evidence-based tools for strategic planning and informed decision-making. Drawing on inputs from a small group of trusted partners, your response to this survey gives your country (and/or state/province) these benefits:

Comprehensive School Safety Policy Profile. A visually engaging, 11-page user-friendly report showcasing your progress since 2017, and benchmarking your status against international targets.

Visibility and Credibility. Presence on the GADRRRES website dashboard, building awareness of your needs and capacities among humanitarian and development partners and international financial institutions.

Regional Reports Inclusion. Participation in aggregated Regional Reports to keep up the momentum for school safety, in a changing climate.

In advance of October 13th, 2024 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction “Empowering the Next Generation for a Resilient Future” we invited to embrace this opportunity to build a global movement to safeguard the future of our children!

Survey Updates

The survey has been revised in several ways:

  • The survey now aligns with the CSS Targets and Indicators
  • Questions on conflict and violence prevention, climate adaptation, and health and well-being are now integrated
  • The survey is available in 14 languages
  • All countries are invited to participate
  • Federated countries can choose to submit responses for the national level, sub-national levels, or both
  • All countries that submit a survey response can immediately view their CSS Policy Profile on a web portal
  • In late 2024, countries can compare their responses with regional and global averages
Timeline of the 2024 CSS Policy Survey

How to participate

Each participating country will have a survey facilitator, recruited by GADRRRES, who will convene school safety stakeholders, such as representatives from government authorities in the education and disaster management sectors, humanitarian and development agencies that work in the education sector, and school safety advocates. Together these stakeholders will review and respond to the survey. Once the facilitator submits their responses, a designated validator from a relevant government authority will review and validate the responses.

Federated countries can complete this process at the sub-national level.

Individuals who are interested in being a survey facilitator or participating as a representative of a relevant agency or government authority should contact the CSS Policy Survey Coordinator:
