• GADRRRES and our partner CLEAR Global are committed to reaching out to the most marginalised peoples of the world.
• We recognise that globally 40% of the population does not have access to an education in a language they speak or understand.
• Four billion people speak a language that is under-represented in the digital space. Although there are an estimated 7,000 languages spoken worldwide, just 5% are online.
• Many actors in the global development and humanitarian communities believe that it is sufficient to communicate with national-level policy-makers in the colonial languages that they speak quite well.
• When we use the 6 official UN Languages we can reach about 4.3 billion people – 53% of the global population of 8.2 billion.

Expanding conversations about child-centred risk reduction and school safety

• This multilingual glossary, now in 16 languages, represents our commitment to social inclusion and to communication in as many languages as possible. These languages can reach an estimated 6 billion people, or 73% of the world's population. It is a step in the right direction.

• Our translation protocols involve recruitment of a volunteer Language Lead for child-centred resilience and school safety, assembling a Validation Team including bilingual subject-matter experts from the national education authority, a UN agency or similar, and an international non-governmental organisation. The language validation team reaches consensus on the Multilingual Glossary Terms in their language, and provides quality check on translations of the Comprehensive School Safety Framework, and the CSS Targets and Indicators.
• This process is designed to establish a shared vocabulary for ongoing conversations in this domain. From that point on, professional and community translators, with the support of CLEAR Global’s language technology, are expected to be able to maintain the quality of future translations.
