Technical Consultation: Community‐based Safe School Construction

This workshop is part of a project to advance risk reduction in the education sector funded by GFDRR and the World Bank implemented by Save the Children. This component is implemented by RiskRED and Save the Children with the support and guidance of UNESCO, ARUP International Development and GFDRR. Over the past 12 months we have been consulting experts from around the world to hear what they consider to be the critical factors for success, as well as the challenges in building schools at a local level to disaster resilient standards.

The aim of the workshop will be to discuss and review the content of the material synthesised to date from these interviews. The revised material from the workshop will then be used to publish a field testing package of guidance material which will be disseminated in 2015.
